Cartography of Practice

A creative, values-driven mapping session for Arts Therapists

Cartography of Practice is a visually grounded, creative process designed to help Arts Therapists reflect on and reconnect with the heart of their practice. This session invites self-reflection, exploring how your values shape your work and providing clarity and insight.

Inspired by the Business Model Canvas, Cartography of Practice is a highly flexible process that can be adapted depending on what you need. Whether you are looking for values-based reflection or a strategic business focus, this process can meet you where you are.

This is not business coaching or supervision- it is a creative and reflective process to help you reconnect with your values and authentic self. Some participants may find the process leaning more into self-reflection and reconnecting with their “why”, while others may find room for strategic thinking around their practice and growth.

We begin with a blank page and a collection of symbolic ‘terrain tiles’, which represent different aspects of your practice. This hands-on, tactile approach invites you to physically interact with the materials, selecting the tiles that resonate most with where you are in your journey. Some tiles are foundational, while others are optional.

Throughout the session, a Compass Booklet will guide your reflection. You’ll be invited to respond through drawing, writing, mark-making, or layering materials. The focus is not on creative outcome; the process itself is the practice. As insight emerges, the map can be adjusted and reshaped.
